Finland Travel Guide

Experience the best of Finland

Are you ready for an unforgettable Finnish adventure? With extensive forests, thousands of lakes and the wild beauty of the Arctic Circle, Finland is a dream destination that has something for everyone, especially nature lovers!

Whether you want to experience the stunning Northern Lights in Lapland, visit a traditional sauna in Helsinki or enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, this guide will help you plan your perfect Finnish holiday, no matter when you are visiting this beautiful country.

Best time to visit Finland

Spring (March to May) is a great time to visit Finland, as the snow starts to melt, revealing green landscapes. Days get longer, leading to the midnight sun in the north. The temperature gradually warms up, but it might still snow in the northern regions until April.

Summer (June to August) features long and sunny days, especially in northern Finland where the sun does not set at all for several weeks, known as the Midnight Sun. It is the best time for outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking on the lakes. Cities also host many festivals and events, making the cultural scene particularly vibrant.

Autumn (September to November) brings colourful foliage, particularly stunning for photos. Temperatures cool down but are still ideal for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. September also marks the start of the aurora viewing season.

Winter (December to February) is a true winter wonderland, when Finland is covered in deep snow, perfect for skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing and husky sledding. The Polar Night, when the sun does not rise above the horizon, occurs in the north, whilst the rest of the country experiences very short days. This is the ideal season for viewing the Northern Lights.
